Yes. Foley Vision Center provides comprehensive eye examinations for children (typically aged 5+) as well as adults.
Children can have vision problems even when they do not complain about blurry vision, so routine eye examinations are an important part of maintaining healthy vision.

If you have noticed a particular vision problem or eye symptom, please let us know.
A comprehensive examination evaluates both your vision and the health of your eyes.
Depending on your individual needs, testing may include your eyeglass prescription, eye pressure, eye movements, focusing ability, peripheral vision, examination of the front and back of the eyes, retinal imaging, OCT imaging, or other diagnostic testing.
Dr. Foley will explain your findings and discuss any recommended treatment, monitoring, glasses, contact lenses, or additional testing.
For many healthy adults, an eye examination every one to two years may be appropriate. Some patients should be examined annually or more frequently depending on age, prescription, contact lens wear, medical conditions, medications, family history, or existing eye conditions.
Dr. Foley will recommend an examination schedule based on your individual needs.
Yes.
Many eye diseases can develop before noticeable vision loss occurs. An eye examination evaluates much more than whether you can read the eye chart.
Routine examinations can detect changes involving the retina, optic nerve, cornea, lens, eye pressure, and other structures of the eye.
Dilation may be recommended depending on your age, symptoms, medical history, retinal findings, and the type of examination being performed.
Foley Vision Center also uses advanced retinal imaging technology that can provide detailed views of the retina.
Eye examinations can sometimes reveal findings associated with conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, vascular disease, autoimmune disease, neurological disorders, and other systemic health conditions.
If Dr. Foley identifies a finding that requires additional medical evaluation, we may recommend follow-up with your primary care physician or another specialist.
Yes. Foley Vision Center evaluates many urgent eye conditions.
Examples may include:
If you are experiencing sudden or severe vision loss, significant trauma, a chemical injury, or another potentially serious emergency, seek immediate medical attention.
New flashes, a sudden increase in floaters, a curtain or shadow in your vision, or sudden peripheral vision loss can sometimes be associated with a retinal tear or retinal detachment.
Contact an eye-care professional promptly for evaluation.
Yes. Foley Vision Center evaluates and treats dry-eye disease.
Treatment depends on the underlying cause and severity and may range from home therapy and eye drops to more advanced in-office treatment.
Foley Vision Center can diagnose, evaluate, and monitor many common eye diseases, including glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration.
When surgical or specialty care is necessary, we can coordinate care with an appropriate ophthalmologist or other specialist.
Optical Coherence Tomography, or OCT, is a noninvasive imaging technology that produces detailed cross-sectional images of structures within the eye.
OCT can be useful in evaluating and monitoring the retina, macula, and optic nerve.
Retinal photography captures detailed images of the inside of the eye.
These images allow Dr. Foley to document retinal findings and compare changes over time.
Visual field testing evaluates your peripheral, or side, vision.
It is commonly used when evaluating conditions such as glaucoma, neurological disorders, retinal disease, or unexplained vision loss.
An eye examination may uncover a finding that requires a closer look.
Additional testing such as OCT, retinal photography, visual field testing, corneal measurements, or other diagnostic procedures can provide information beyond what can be obtained during a routine examination.
Yes. Foley Vision Center has a full-service optical department offering prescription eyeglasses, sunglasses, lenses, and frames.
Our staff can help you select eyewear based on your prescription, visual needs, lifestyle, appearance, and budget.
No.
You are welcome to purchase your glasses from Foley Vision Center, but your eyeglass prescription is yours and may be used wherever you choose.
Absolutely.
Selecting glasses involves more than choosing a frame that looks good. Frame dimensions, prescription strength, lens design, bridge fit, eye position, and lifestyle can all affect comfort and vision.
Our optical staff can help you choose an appropriate frame and lens combination.
Lens options can include:
Our staff will recommend options based on your prescription and how you use your glasses.
Turnaround time depends on the frame, prescription, lens design, laboratory, and any specialty features ordered.
We will provide an estimated timeframe when your glasses are ordered.
We can perform many routine adjustments and minor repairs.
Some repairs depend on the frame design and the extent of the damage. Bring your glasses to the office and our optical staff can take a look.
In many cases, yes.
The frame must be in suitable condition, and certain frames may not be appropriate for new lenses. Our optical staff can inspect your frame and discuss your options.
Yes. Foley Vision Center provides contact lens examinations and fittings for many types of contact lenses.
Options can include daily disposable lenses, reusable lenses, toric lenses for astigmatism, multifocal lenses, and specialty contact lenses.
Yes.
A comprehensive eye examination determines your general eye health and vision prescription. A contact lens evaluation includes additional measurements and assessment of how a particular contact lens fits and performs on your eyes.
A contact lens prescription is therefore different from an eyeglass prescription.
Usually, yes.
Modern toric contact lenses can correct many levels of astigmatism.
Many patients with presbyopia can successfully wear multifocal contact lenses.
Results vary depending on your prescription, visual demands, eye health, and expectations. Dr. Foley can discuss whether multifocal contacts are appropriate for you.
Yes.
Age alone does not determine whether a child can wear contacts. Maturity, hygiene, motivation, lifestyle, and the ability to follow lens-care instructions are important considerations.
Contact lens prescriptions expire and require periodic evaluation.
Because contact lenses sit directly on the eye, routine examinations help ensure that the lenses remain safe, comfortable, and appropriate for your eyes.
Foley Vision Center participates with a number of medical and vision insurance plans.
Insurance coverage can vary significantly depending on your individual plan. Please contact our office if you have questions about whether we participate with your particular insurance.
Vision plans generally provide benefits for routine vision examinations, glasses, or contact lenses.
Medical insurance may apply when the examination or testing is related to an eye disease, medical condition, symptom, injury, or medically necessary follow-up.
Which insurance is billed depends on the reason for the visit and the services provided.
Routine vision plans and medical insurance plans cover different services.
Additional diagnostic testing may be medically necessary based on findings during your examination and may be billed separately to medical insurance or to the patient depending on coverage.
Some vision plans provide allowances or benefits for glasses or contact lenses.
Benefits differ considerably between plans. Our staff can help explain the benefits available through plans with which we participate.
Yes.
